- Walt, I'd a lot rather suspect you inadvertantly munged the "Rigid
- Disk Block" in that drive than blame a hardware problem. Do you have
- access to an old mountlist for it? If so, you may be able to use
- hdtoolbox or JoAnn Dows "RDBxxx" to restore it by re-writing it using
- the info from an old mountlist. The xxx is cause I can't recall the
- whole name. It may be RDBMount.lha on aminet, if not, sorry...
-
- I keep a copy of ReadRDB on a floppy for just that situation, along
- with its backups of the RDB from both drives here. So far, I haven't
- needed it, but with some of the scsi controllers at the tv station,
- its been a real $$$ saver!
-
- Make sure your terms are right too. ONLY the first AND last device
- are to be terminated on a scsi buss. Thats first on the cable, which
- is usually the controller card, and last = last drive on the cable.
- If you have a multiposition cable, its best to put the last drive on
- the end of the cable unless you port a tape drive around like we do.
- We finally stuck a long cable out the back of the machines, and tag a
- 6" extension on a plug in the middle of the cable for the tape, the
- cable then looping back inside to hit the last drive. The tape drive
- then is not termed cause its in the middle of the cable when plugged
- in. It probably is not the least pretty on a TDR screen, but it has
- been bulletproof for 2 years now.
